Not long after we wrote our thesis on how OpenAI is about to take over the internet, they came out with this announcement:
An internet browser with built-in agentic AI was the obvious next step for the company that wants to be the center of the user experience. It will be the launch point for all apps and software you use on your computer or phone.

Every time we transition from one tech era to the next, the door has opened for a new competitor to emerge. Windows software dominated the PC era until phones came along, at which point Android/Apple elbowed their way in. Now we are entering the AI era and OpenAI is entering the fray.
The bigger picture of course, is the encroachment of Big Cap Tech companies on each other’s turf which we’ve written about many times. As all players narrow in on the same market, it becomes very crowded. Soon they will be fighting for each other’s profit dollars as the balance of power shifts to newcomers.
