A Hero's Welcome For "Convicted Felon" Trump

After Trump's conviction on Thursday, George Soros's son Alexander suggested Democrats repeatedly refer to President Trump as a "convicted felon", to damage his support ahead of the election. As Leighton Woodhouse pointed out, this was ironic considered that Soros's Open Societies Foundations call for destigmatizing convicted felons.

Nevertheless, if Alexander Soros thought normal people thought any less of Trump after his politically-motivated conviction, Trump's reception in Newark at UFC 302 suggested otherwise.

As cage-side commentator Joe Rogan remarked, "The round of applause he's getting right now is pretty staggering.". You can see for yourself in the video in the X post below.

UFC Fighters Pay Their Respects

After submitting his opponent with an arm bar, middleweight veteran Kevin Holland climbed over the cage to shake President Trump's hand.

And after winning his co-main event, #1 ranked middleweight contender Sean Strickland expressed his support for Trump and promised to donate to his campaign.

Strickland also made sure to get his photo taken with Trump,

As did Strickland's former opponent, current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex "Poaton" Pereira.

Perhaps A Potential For Diplomacy

Trump also had a cordial meeting with the Russian UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, prompting one observer to speculate/hope that it could lead to a diplomatic back channel, facilitating an end to the Ukraine War.

That may be a stretch, but Trump's cordial conversation with a famous Russian athlete is the closest thing we've had to diplomacy with Russia in a while. Hopefully, it's a sign of more to come.

In Case You Missed It

In our previous post ("The Silver Lining In The Trump Conviction"), we shared our friend Kevin Dolan's theory for why Trump's conviction may actually be good news for opponents of the current establishment.
