For the past three months, the monthly retail sales report stumped traders and strategists who had expected overlevered, undersaved US consumer (at least until some magical revision of US "data" decided that said consumers actually had $500 billion more in imaginary savings just lying around, to make the Biden admin look better) to finally hit a brick wall, and instead of falling off a cliff, month after month the Census Bureau managed to come up with a number that was just above expectations.

But if anyone was expecting that desperate Biden admin goalseekers would throw in the towel and allow mean reversion to take its natural course three weeks before the election, we have a surprise for you. According to the latest Bank of America real-time spending data, tomorrow's retail sales print will be the last hurrah before the chasm of reality finally opens.
